Cooking is creative, y'all, and as my mama says, cooking a meal for someone is like making edible art filled with love. Holiday time is the perfect time to cook or bake and then give it away, either as a gift or a seated meal. I love making food. It is one my favorite creative activities, and most often, my food is a shared creation with friends and family. I wish to offer you some of my favorite recipes that I make around the holidays. I hope you'll try one or more, and if you do, please leave a comment, AND please share the recipe. They are easy to make and absolutely yummy!
To kick off this series of recipes, lets just get right to the point: CHOCOLATE! And caramel. And nuts! I love to make these bars as holiday gifts. And if I don't eat them all, they do eventually get passed out. Enjoy!
Yummy Bars
Ingredients:
1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 14 oz. pkg. light caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup melted butter
1 cup chopped pecans
1 6oz. pkg, chocolate chips
How to:
Melt caramels with only 1/3 of the evaporated milk. Mix rest of milk, butter, and cake mix in bowl. Spread half of this mixture in greased 9"x13" glass pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and drop nuts and chocolate chips over baked mixture. Spoon caramel mixture over that and cover with remaining cake mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Let cool and slice into bars.
