Prompt #10 - Billboard for Peace
I was going to substitute and go Rogue on this one, but over the weekend when excavating my oil pastels, I came across a box I'd saved since I was about 12 or 13, which contained my gumwrapper chain. When we were growing up in the early '60s, it was a thing, and our cousin, taught us how to make them. I kept saving mine (still in original shoebox complete with "I Love Freddy" and other assorted declarations from that time) and I've pulled it out now and again thinking, I need to MAKE something using this! All of the sudden, the make a peace sign idea dropped in, and so I did. It took a while, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Considered whether or not to add "Peace" in gumchain lettering above or below (I have about 15 feet left), but this project alone took a LOT of patience and wrestling with the glue gun, though in this case, the glue gun and materials worked together well and stuff sticks. But glue gun is kind of its own challenge, and also I think maybe in this case, simpler is better and the image stands on its own (plus, I'd need another weekend to deal with the glue gun and trying to make actual letters). PEACE!
